Zwei illegale Immigranten sind aus dem Auffanglager im Süden Teneriffas geflohen. Das provisorische Lager bietet keine ausreichenden Sicherheitsanlagen. Bereits sechs Personen konnten in diesem Jahr aus dem Komplex der in der Nähe der Comisaria in Playa Las Americas liegt fliehen. Auf bis zu 220 Immigranten kommen lediglich zwei Sicherheitsbeamte, viele von ihnen befinden sich noch in der Ausbildung. Die Gewerkschaft der Polizei fordert seit Monaten mehr Personal für die Sicherheit. read more

Nachdem in den vergangenen Tagen schon mehr als 300 Flüchtlinge auf Lampedusa angelandet waren wurde ein Schlauchboot mit 68 Menschen, darunter 13 Frauen vom Zoll 2 Seemeilen vor Lampedusa gestoppt und dann in den Hafen geleitet. Ein Mann wurde wegen Atemproblemen in die Poliklinik gebracht. Es ist das vierte Boot in den letzten Stunden. Gestern Abend erreicht ein Schlauchboot mit 70 MigrantInnen den Strand "Isola dei conigli" auf Lampedusa. 2 weitere Boote mit 220 Menschen landeten auf der Nachbarinsel Linosa. (Artikel in ital. Wie von 2 Mitgliedern von borderline-europe beobachtet werden konnte landete ein Schlauchboot mit 70 MigrantInnen direkt auf Lampedusa. Nach Angaben des Bürgermeisters handelte es sich um Flüchtlinge vom Horn von Afrika. Die in den Felsen verstreuten Habseligkeiten der Flüchtlinge deuten darauf hin, dass Kleinstkinder an Bord waren. Das ca. 8 m lange Schlauchboot lag ohne Motor vor den Felsen der Isola dei Conigli. Anscheinend wurden die 70 Flüchtlinge aus dem Schlauchboot, so berichtete man borderline-europe, ohne jegliche Untersuchung und Identifkation - und damit ohne jegliche Feststellung der Minderjährigkeit - am heutigen Morgen mit unbekannten Ziel auf das Festland ausgeflogen. Die australische Marine hat 54 wahrscheinlich afghanische Flüchtlinge auf dem Weg nach Australien kurz vor der Küste abgefangen. Ein Ranger hatte das Boot nordöstlich von Darwin entdeckt, wo es illegal in australische Gewässer fuhr, berichteten die Behörden. Die Marine nahm die Flüchtlinge an Bord und wollte sie auf die Weihnachtsinsel im Pazifik bringen, die zu Australien gehört. Dort ist ein Aufnahmelager, wo Asylanträge gestellt werden können. read more

Der Parteichef der oppositionellen Arbeiterpartei, Joseph Muscat, fordert einen härteren Kurs gegen illegale Einwanderer. Vorwürfe, er instrumentalisiere angesichts von 600 Ankünften afrikanischer Flüchtlinge die Ängste der Bevölkerung, wies Muscat zurück: "Wenn wir Populisten wären, würden wir sagen, rettet einfach keine Bootsflüchtlinge mehr! Italienische Ärzteverbände protestieren gegen einen umstrittenen Artikel des neuen Sicherheitspakets der Regierung Berlusconi. Dieser erlaubt medizinischem Personal, Daten von illegalen Migranten an Behörden weiterzugeben. Mit der Vorschrift will die Mitte-Rechts-Regierung den Kampf gegen die illegale Immigration verschärfen. Gruppen von Ärzten demonstrierten indes vor der Abgeordnetenkammer. read more

Die Regierungen Nordafrikas sollen sich nach dem Willen der EU-Kommission stärker im Kampf gegen die illegale Einwanderung nach Europa engagieren. Zugleich müssten die Lebensbedingungen in europäischen Flüchtlingslagern verbessert werden, forderte EU-Justizkommissar Jacques Barrot vor seiner Reise auf die italienische Mittelmeerinsel Lampedusa in einem Gespräch mit der Nachrichten- Agentur AFP. Ein Boot mit 64 afrikanischen Flüchtlingen an Bord hat die spanische Insel Teneriffa erreicht. Nach Angaben des Innenministeriums gelangte das Boot am Mittwochabend unbemerkt von den Behörden an den Strand der Ortschaft Granadilla de Abona. Erst am Dienstag hatte die spanische Küstenwacht im Bereich der Kanareninsel El Hierro ein weites Flüchtlingsboot mit 65 Menschen an Bord abgefangen. Zwei Millionen Migranten haben vor, von der libyschen Küste Richtung Italien zu fahren. Dies berichtete der italienische Innenminister Maroni in einem Radiointerview am Donnerstag. Im Rahmen eines bilateralen Abkommens zur Bekämpfung der illegalen Migration wird Italien in den nächsten Wochen Libyen sechs Schiffe liefern, die zur Patrouillierung der Küsten dienen sollen. An den Kontrollfahrten werden sich auch Italiener beteiligen. "Sobald die Patrouillierung beginnen, wird es keine Migration mehr nach Süditalien geben", versicherte Maroni. read more

Die Beziehungen zwischen der Europäischen Union und den drei Maghrebstaaten Libyen, Marokko und Algerien, sind "schwierig" geworden, denn diese Länder weigern sich, Rückübernahme- Abkommen mit der EU zu uterzeichnen, so am Dienstag Jacques Barrot, Innen- und Justizkommissar der EU und für das Thema Migration zuständig. Die Rückübernahmeabkommen erlauben es den Europäischen Staaten, irreguläre Migranten in die Heimat- oder Transitländer zurückzuschicken. Nachdem die EU-Kommission im Februar eine Verordnung zur Novellierung des EU-Asylrechts vorgelegt hat, hat das Europäische Parlament sich heute in einem Initiativbericht zu dem Thema geäußert. Dieser unterstützt die Vorschläge der Kommission, fordert aber zusätzlich mehr Schutz und Rechte für die Flüchtlinge und geht mit der bestehenden Dublin-II-Verordnung hart ins Gericht. read more

Auf dem süditalienischen Island Lampedusa zwischen Sizilien und Nordafrika sind erneut über 300 Flüchtlinge gestrandet. Einem Boot mit 332 Migranten - darunter 23 Frauen -gelang es in der Nacht direkt im Hafen der Insel einzulaufen, berichtete die italienische Nachrichtenagentur Ansa. Über die Nationalität der Bootsflüchtlinge wurde bisher nichts bekannt. Mit den Neuankömmlingen sind nach Angaben der Inselverwaltung derzeit rund 2000 Einwanderer auf Lampedusa. read more

"Illegale Einreisen sind für die Polizei immer schwieriger zu erkennen, unsere Fahndungseinsätzen passen wir dem Verhalten der Straftäter an. Und schon wieder eskaliert die Situation im Auffanglager der Insel, das nach Entscheidung des italienischen Innenministers zur Abschiebungshaft wurde. Die spanische Küstenwacht hat im Bereich der Kanarischen Inseln ein weiteres Flüchtlingsboot abgefangen. Bei den meisten der 65 Insassen handelte es sich um Minderjährige. Kinder kommen zwar oft mit ihren Eltern in Flüchtlingsbooten nach Spanien, doch ist es Beobachtern zufolge ungewöhnlich, dass sie allein nach Europa geschickt werden. Im Gegensatz zu Erwachsenen werden Minderjährige allerdings nicht umgehend abgeschoben, sondern in Lagern untergebracht. read more

Die Küste Gambias hat sich in einen der Hauptpunkte der Abfahrt und des Transits von afrikanischen MigrantInnen entwickelt, die von hier versuchen, illegal Europa zu erreichen. Bis noch vor einigen Monaten war sie aber auch die am wenigsten bewachte. Gestern hat die spanische Regierung zwei Boote an die gambische Regierung übergeben, um vor der Küste zu patrouillieren. Ein Abkommen für Kooperationsprojekte wurde ebenfalls abgeschlossen. Auch wenn man sich noch über die konkreten Punkte des Abkommens einigen muss, wurden schon vier Millionen Euros für diverse Projekt zur Verfügung gestellt. Zypern und Malta sollen in Zukunft Priorität in Asylfragen genießen, so der zypriotische Innenminister Neoclis Sylikiotis gestern. Er teilt mit, dass die europäische Kommission Jacques die beiden Staaten als Erste mit dem European Asylum Support Office unterstützen will. "Das ist sehr wichtig für uns (...). Wir haben zwei Gruppen: die erste Gruppe kommt illegal über die türkischen Küstenteil der Insel und reist weiter in den südlichen Teil, missbraucht das Asylsystem, so haben wir Tausende von anhängigen Asylanträgen.
