In Calabria, southern Italy, the ship used by migrants who were trying to reach Italy is to be turned into a monument to those who died on the journey. It was used on March 22, 2020, by 14 Iraqi and Iranian Kurdish migrants to reach Crotone. An artist, Massimo Sirelli, will turn the wreck into an artwork, which is to be placed at the entrance of the port of Crotone. read more

EuroMed Rights and the Lebanese Center for Human Rights call for a transparent investigation on the circumstances behind the Tripoli boat incident. On 23 April, 2022, a boat carrying dozens of travellers capsized about three nautical miles off the coast of Tripoli as they were attempting to leave Lebanon by sea. The people on board were Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians. The army’s naval forces were able to rescue 48 people while at least 7, including a little girl, were reportedly found dead. Dozens of these passengers are still missing until today. read more
