Push-backs at the Greek-Macedonian border violating human rights

On 14 March 2016, more than 1500 refugees were collectively and summarily pushed back from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) to Greece – an operation violating the fundamental rights which signatories to the European Convention on Human Rights purport to guarantee. One family and several individuals have decided to act against the violations they suffered and to claim their rights in front of the European Court of Human Rights. read more

Help to vulnerable on Lesvos wins Efi Latsoudi 2016 Nansen Award

Efi Latsoudi doesn’t keep fresh milk at home. With so much time spent helping refugees, there’s never chance to use it. “It’s dried, I hope that’s okay,” she says, apologetically, stirring powder into coffee.
Efi Latsoudi named as one of two winners of the 2016 Nansen Refugee Award for her tireless work helping refugees on the Greek island of Lesvos.

The trafficking of Nigerian women from Libya to Italy by boat is reaching “crisis” levels, with traffickers using migrant reception centres as holding pens for women who are then collected and forced into prostitution across Europe.

Passeurs d’hospitalites – The Newsletter

Migrants in Calais and at the borders, July 19 to August 14 2016
Summer 2015 - summer 2016: the number of migrants has tripled in Calais; evictions
evacuations, squats and camps destructions follow each other on the coast and inland, in Paris,
at the Italian border; the device of "respite centers" become Centers of Reception and
Orientation, enters in duration and develops, as a means to disperse the people rather than solve
the problems where they arise; the walls multiply, also deaths. In silence: this summer, migrants
are not attractive anymore.

Aufnahmebedingungen in Italien
