Europa darf vor dem Hintergrund der Katastrophe von Japan nicht die Situation der Flüchtlinge in Nordafrika aus den Augen verlieren, fordert die Menschenrechtsorganisation „Pro Asyl“. Gegenüber domradio.de warnt Europareferent Karl Kopp vor allem vor der Entwicklung in Libyen. Sollte sich Gaddafi durchsetzen, wäre das „fatal“, sagte Kopp in dem Gespräch am Dienstag (16.03.2011). Für viele Menschen würde es dann nur noch um das „nackte Überleben“ gehen. Bereits jetzt gebe es dort Tausende „klassische Flüchtlinge“, ebenso in Ägypten und Tunesien, die in Europa das Recht auf Asyl hätten. read more

Der Menschenrechtsbeauftragte der Bundesregierung, Markus Löning (FDP), hat die Aufnahme von in Tunesien gestrandeten Flüchtlingen auch in Deutschland gefordert. Einige hundert Gastarbeiter aus Somalia, Eritrea und Sudan säßen im Flüchtlingslager an der libyschen Grenze fest und könnten aus politischen Gründen nicht in ihre Heimat zurück. «Um diese Menschen muss sich die internationale Gemeinschaft kümmern, das können wir nicht den Tunesiern überlassen», sagte Löning der Nachrichtenagentur dpa im Anschluss an seine Reise nach Tunesien. read more

Die Situation von Flüchtenden in Libyen und den Nachbarstaaten spitzt sich dramatisch zu. Die internationale Nothilfe läuft langsam an. Auch Deutschland leistet finanzielle Unterstützung, um die Erstversorgung der Fliehenden zu gewährleisten und unterstützt Evakuierungsmaßnahmen aus dem tunesisch-libyschen Grenzgebiet. Aus Sicht von PRO ASYL und medico international müssen zusätzlich Maßnahmen ergriffen werden, wenn Europa angesichts des Flüchtlingsdramas in Libyen und den Nachbarstaaten solidarisch im Sinne des Flüchtlingsschutzes, der Menschenrechte und der Menschlichkeit handeln will. read more

Bei den Männern handle es sich um afrikanische Söldner, die auf friedliche Demonstranten geschossen hätten, sagen ihre libyschen Bewacher und verweisen auf Reisedokumente, die sie in den Taschen ihrer Gefangenen gefunden hätten.
