Last Friday (02.12), the Bundestag passed a draft for a "law to speed up asylum court proceedings and asylum procedures". According to the bill, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) is to make decisions more quickly and so that not so many decisions are overturned by the courts. The German Bundestag decided on Friday (02.12) that migrants with short-term toleration who have lived in Germany for at least five years until October 31, 2022, will now receive an 18-month "opportunity right of residence." This is equivalent to legal status. Within the additional year and a half, migrants* can fulfill the requirements for a long-term residence permit and have easier access to the labor market. read more

Photos and videos record how a 34-year-old man was rejected twice at the border between Greece and northern Macedonia.
