Spotlight Italy - Zones of Lawlessness
How are people living where no one is watching?
In the new issue of our Streiflicht Italy, we look at the lack of rights that migrants and people seeking protection face after arriving in Italy and Libya. Basic rights and protection mechanisms are denied to most of them.
The four chapters provide insights into:
- The everyday life of refugees in Libya without papers, rights and safety
- The life situation of migrants and refugees in post-fascist times
- The life reality of migrant harvest workers in the former camp of Campobello di Mazara in Sicily
- The lawlessness at Italy's northern borders. In this issue we take a look at people's lives away from the public eye and talk about the effects of such zones of lawlessness.
